Chelsea midfielder desperate to play for the “club I’ve loved since I was a little boy”

Chelsea’s loan army is rather reduced in numbers this season thanks to the integration of so many youngsters into the first team.

While in previous years we had guys like Kurt Zouma and Ruben Loftus-Cheek making waves in the Premier League, they’re now part of Frank Lampard’s senior squad, meaning we have to look a little further down the leagues to find our outstanding loan talents.

You don’t have to go far though. Conor Gallagher is absolutely savaging the Championship this season, first with Charlton and now with Swansea after a January upgrade.

Speaking to the Chelsea official website, the midfielder revealed that despite his success in the second tier, his focus was entirely on returning to be a hit with Chelsea:

“My dream is to play for Chelsea. It’s the club I’ve loved since I was a little boy. I’m willing to do whatever I can, to work as hard as possible to achieve that. It will make my family so proud, it will make me proud of myself,” the 20 year old said.

He’s not leaving any room for interpretation there, and we love to hear that kind of passion and determination. The kids on loan now know that Lampard and his staff are paying close attention no matter where they are playing, and there’s no way that Gallagher’s exploits haven’t caught the manager’s attention.

His chance to play for the club he’s “loved” since he was a little boy may come sooner than he thinks.
