Chelsea interested in former Dutch youth international midfielder

The transfer window may not be open, but the rumours continue to be rife.

Chelsea have joined a host of clubs including Arsenal, Valencia, Sevilla and Real Betis who are keen on signing 19-year old Feyenoord attacking midfielder Orkun Kökçü, according to Voetbal International.

Kökçü is a highly rated player and he has represented Holland at youth level as well as Turkey under-21s more recently. He will still be able to decide which country he represents at senior level having not made a competitive appearance for either yet.

The player himself has become a key squad member for Dick Advocaat, making 32 appearances already this season in the Eredivisie.

Kökçü is content to stay in Feyenoord right now as it stands, but I am sure the appeal of the Premier League might turn his head in the near future.

Chelsea will have other areas they will be looking at improving this summer, perhaps arguably more important than centre midfield, where they seem to be stacked.
