January was a slow and frustrating month for Chelsea and for Chelsea fans.
The Blues were desperately in need of new options for their attacking line but ended up coming up empty handed. Now we’re a couple of weeks into February and a deal has been wrapped up for Hakim Ziyech.
The Telegraph report that a transfer will take place this summer, with Chelsea buying the Ajax winger for around €45m. But they also say that we tried to buy the Morocco winger last month.
According to them, Marina Granovskaia made an offer in January which was turned down because Ajax were “adamant” they wanted to keep him.
Clearly they had accepted that he wasn’t going to stick around long term, however, as they’ve agreed on this deal with us now.
Let’s hope our prospects in this season half of the season don’t suffer too much because of Ajax’s admirable stubbornness.
