Chelsea agree fee to sign young Swedish winger later this year

Chelsea have “agreed a fee” to sign Swedish winger Edwin Andersson, according to the Daily Mail.

The Blues made it through January without signing a single senior player, but they’re clearly still on the lookout for younger talents. Andersson doesn’t turn 17 until November, when he will be allowed to sign a proper full time deal at Chelsea.

A compensation package to his current club, IFK Gothenburg has been agreed.

The left winger apparently had trials at Manchester United a couple of years ago but didn’t make the move.

Now Chelsea have swooped, as confirmed Jonas Olsson, the academy manager at Gothenburg, who said the move reflected well on his club’s academy.

Chelsea have had great success hoovering up young talent from around Europe in recent years, with Billy Gilmour one of those now looking to make an impact on the first team.

Maybe we could see young Andersson in the same position in a few years?
