Antonio Rudiger matches John Terry with Premier League brace

Chelsea were pretty good for long stretches of today’s game against Leicester, but were pretty dire in others too.

This most inconsistent of teams created a host of chances early on, unable to find the finishing touch.

Then after all that, they end up playing poorly in the second half, but scoring from two set pieces.

Antonio Rudiger got up to thump home a header from a corner right at the start of the second period, before Leicester turned the game around.

He was then the hero again, meeting another Mason Mount delivery, this time from a set piece, to level the scores.

According to OPTA, who Tweet you can see embedded above, he’s the first Chelsea defender to score twice in a game since the legend John Terry in 2013.

If only Rudiger could defend like JT too, we’d really be in business. As it stands, he’s better served at that end of the pitch than near our own goal.
