Spurs interest in Giroud could mean late striker deal for Chelsea

Tottenham have made an offer for Oliver Giroud, according to Gianluca Di Marzio’s website.

The Italian transfer guru writes that Inter Milan, previously leading the chase for the Chelsea striker, are now fixated on Fernando Llorente.

That suddenly means no buyer for the France international, who is not playing at all for Frank Lampard and must be desperate to quit the club. Now apparently Spurs are considering bringing the striker in, following their loss of Harry Kane to injury.

It’s a deal that could suit all three parties, and Chelsea showed with the sale of David Luiz to Arsenal in the summer that they’re happy to sell to direct rivals if they want ageing stars for a small fee.

One would imagine then that a forward is guaranteed to be joining the club. But with little time left, a deal is starting to look unlikely. If they were to replace him in a couple of days, it will have to be an exceptionally quickly executed deal.
