Predicted XI: Frank Lampard to summon wantaway striker as reward for transfer patience

Chelsea take on Leicester in the early kick-off tomorrow, and there are some interesting questions about the lineup Frank Lampard will end up picking.

The manager has confirmed he’s got an almost fully fit squad, meaning Kepa should play behind Cesar Azpilicueta and Reece James restored at full back.

In the middle, Antonio Rudiger has his trust long term, and Fikayo Tomori might have done enough in the FA Cup to get his own chance in the first team again.

In midfield, it’s hard to see him looking beyond N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic, with Jorginho probably still getting the nod over Mason Mount.

Willian and Callum Hudson-Odoi pick themselves out wide assuming that Christian Pulisic is still not match fit.

Lampard said in his press conference that Tammy Abraham is sill feeling pain from the ankle injury he got last week against Arsenal. If that rules him out, what odds a stunning start for Olivier Giroud after he stayed put on deadline day despite being desperate for a move?

It would be a fitting reward for his professionalism; and it’s not like Michy Batshuayi is contributing much.
