One of two academy prodigies likely to miss out – Predicted XI for Burnley

Chelsea are taking on Burnley at home, and Frank Lampard has a pretty fresh squad to pick from after plenty of first team players were rested for last week’s cup game against Nottingham Forest.

It will be a full strength defence, with Kepa in goal, Cesar Azpilicueta at left back, Reece James on the right, with probably Antonio Rudiger and Kurt Zouma in the middle.

In midfield is where the questions start. N’Golo Kante is untouchable, Mateo Kovacic necessary. The Jorginho vs. Mason Mount debate will be fascinating, but the Italy international impacted the game well against Arsenal and allows the England midfielder to play in the front 3.

Then Mount can play on the left, with Willian on the right and Tammy Abraham leading the line.

The alternative is Callum Hudson-Odoi on the left, with Mount on the bench. Also a big possibility after his goal and assist. Or Mount in the midfield 3 and Jorginho on the bench – although that setup has failed in some of the recent sluggish home performances.

It will be fascinating to see what direction he goes.
