Olivier Giroud’s less than two days to save his last major France outing

This transfer window has so far been all talk but no action, and with less than 40 hours remaining at the time of typing, things don’t look like getting any more dramatic.

This could spell bad news for the one player who looked dead cert to be leaving Chelsea this window, Olivier Giroud.

The France World Cup winner is desperate to have one final outing at a major competition for his national side at the European Championships this summer. At 33, this will be his last opportunity to play in a major international competition.

Giroud has hardly played at all for Chelsea under Frank Lampard this season, and if he stays at the club and that continues, he is more than likely to miss out on a place in the France squad for the summer.

This is according to RMC Sport as cited by Get French Football News, who claim that the France Football Federation are becoming increasingly anxious about the striker’s situation, and he must move in the final hours of this window for a spot at the Euros.

His apparent move to Inter looks pretty dead in the water, according to the same source. But Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Lazio could give him one last escape route.
