Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has still not completed his move to Inter, as was reported to be very close last week.
On the 15th of January, the reliable Fabrizio Romano reported that the deal was close and that Giroud only wants to join Inter.
Giroud only wants to join Inter. The agreement between Inter and Chelsea is now ready to be finalized for €5M+add ons. Talks ongoing to complete everything and prepare his medicals in Milano. 🔵 #Chelsea #CFC #Giroud https://t.co/x4CGv5CPsi

However, as the days past, no confirmation had arrived.
Yesterday, Romano gave another small update on Giroud and he actually steered away from a deal being done.
He says that Antonio Conte’s side are considering making a loan move to sign former Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente, and believes that if that happens then ‘no more Olivier Giroud’.
Inter are in advanced talks for Matteo Politano to Napoli (€25M) and Fernando Llorente can become part of the swap deal. Inter are considering Llorente as striker on loan – if they’ll sign him, no more Olivier Giroud. 🔵 #CFC #Inter #transfers

This would suggest that Chelsea are probably not allowing Giroud to leave the club until they bring in a striker, with their main target being Edinson Cavani from PSG.
However, they will need to get the Cavani move wrapped up quick, otherwise it looks like Inter are prepared to go elsewhere.
