Napoli reject another Chelsea approach for Dries Mertens but Blues set for another late attempt

As the hours pass on, Dries Mertens reported move to Chelsea looks to be hanging on by a thread as reliable Italian sources confirm another approach has been rejected by Napoli.

Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio staff reported this overnight and state that Napoli do not want to sell Mertens this window and will let his contract run down.

This move is now looking highly unlikely, unless Chelsea give them an offer they cannot refuse, and this is what the English press believe will happen.

The Daily Mirror’s Darren Lewis is usually quite reliable and he believes that Chelsea will make that kind of offer for Mertens today.

ESPN’s reliable Julien Laurens who is also reliable, believes that Chelsea will go back in for one last offer today, and he also states that Mertens is actually keen on the move, despite other contrasting reports.

We wait, we hope, we see.
