Chelsea face Nottingham Forest on Sunday in the FA Cup third round, and as always, The Blues are likely to rest a few key players and replace them with some talented youngsters.
Chelsea’s assistant head coach Jody Morris took on media duties today in the absence of Frank Lampard, who is suffering with a bit of sickness bug.
Morris took questions from the press at the Chelsea training camp in Cobham, and he has confirmed that left back Marcos Alonso is still injured.
Injury news: Morris says Alonso is out and Loftus-Cheek remains a long-term absentee. The rest looks ok but Tomori has a bug #cfc

This could open up a door of opportunity for academy left back Ian Maatsen, who might well find himself at least in the squad on Sunday.
Morris knows the player well having coached him at youth level, and he was complimenting him during today’s press conference as well.
Sounds like a badly-timed bug for Gilmour, who I expected to play against Forest (he still might, of course). Morris very complimentary of Guehi and Maatsen too #cfc

Let’s hope that this is a sign that the highly rated Dutch under-18 international might get a chance on Sunday, he is certainly one of the more highly rated youth players currently at the club.
