Alan Partrid-, sorry, Alan Shearer has been in Chichester opening a leisure centre, and while there he was inevitably cornered about goings on in the Premier League.
The Chichester Observer was on hand to ask the Premier League great for some predictions about the season, and it was good news for Chelsea fans.
He was confident we’ll make the top four, mainly thanks to some additions he expects this month:
“I think Chelsea will sneak the final spot and get fourth,” he told the local paper.
“I’m sure they will do some business during the January transfer window to strengthen their side and ensure they stay where they are in the table.”
We certainly hope so. At times we’ve looked a lock for that Champions League place, at other times we’ve risked sliding much further down. Ultimately what will help is the inefficiency of the teams around us, and hopefully some of these winter transfers that Shearer is expecting.
With three games coming up in a week starting on Saturday, we can get things off to a great start even before those new names arrive.
