Frank Lampard lists Chelsea injuries, with fresh tendon problem for winger

Chelsea have been through some pretty tough injury spells this season, with periods where several key men were our and Frank Lampard had to make do with what he had left.

We’re now in a much better situation overall, but the manager was forced to reveal two significant problems in today’s press conference.

The issue with Marcos Alonso has been hanging around for a weeks, and the left back is still sidelined. We expect Cesar Azpilicueta to play on the left in any case, so it’s more of a loss of depth than anything.

The other problem is a fresh one, and a real damaging blow to our team. Christian Pulisic has a tendon injury which Lampard called “nasty” and “painful”, and one which sounds like it may keep him out for some time.

The winger wasn’t necessarily Frank’s first choice, but he was always going to be in his thinking, especially when we want to play on the counter, and without him we can tell pretty clearly the team will be Callum Hudson-Odoi on one side and Willian on the other, with just Pedro really on the bench as cover.
