Frank Lampard clarifies rumours about potential Kepa replacement transfer

Frank Lampard has insisted that Chelsea won’t be signing a new goalkeeper in this window to replace Kepa, although he did also take the chance to fire a warning to the Spanish stopper.

Speaking in his standard pre-match press conference ahead of the Hull game in the FA Cup, the Chelsea boss denied rumours that players like Nick Pope of Burnley were being lined up for moves in the next week.

However, as you can see in the summary from the Athletic’s Liam Twomey, he wasn’t letting the struggling stopper off the hook either:

This is probably the right way to play it. We haven’t totally given up on Kepa getting his form back, and there’s no need to throw the baby out with the bathwater, but it’s looking an increasingly precarious situation.

Willy Caballero will start between the sticks tomorrow Lampard confirmed, meaning Kepa has a while to stew on the bench and work out how to improve his form.
