Chelsea’s top 4 chances without any signings are slim but possibility remains

There’s just a day and a bit left of the January transfer window, and after so much hype, it looks like Chelsea will be signing… nobody.

That’s massively disappointing for fans, who after a summer of no moves in the market thanks to the transfer ban, were expecting a monster January. Some are taking it on the chin and accepting that there probably just wasn’t the right name out there, others are just plain furious.

We all know we’re out of the title race, and the Champions League is a serious long shot. So being railroaded into spending huge money and locked into a long contract with a player would be madness.

But can we can the top 4, our ultimate aim for the season, without any additions? That’s the questions the manager, the board and the fans are asking themselves right now.

We’ve got the quality, but perhaps not the depth, and our failing form recently has made us very worried that the answer is no.

On the other hand, if Emerson finds some form at left back, if Tammy stays fit and keeps finding the net, and if Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic play to their very best on the wings and N’Golo Kante is able to raise his game again, we have one of the better teams in the league, and there’s still always a chance we can make it.
