Chelsea’s first sale looks close as January moves begin

Yesterday Chelsea dipped their toe back into the transfer market after a year off, buying a youth team striker to get themselves warmed up.

Now they’re rolling again, it seems like an outgoing transfer could be next. SportWitness have the news from Italy, which says that Olivier Giroud’s move to Inter Milan is in the “hot hours” and could be done very soon.

The level of detail leaking out is making it all the more convincing. They say that it’s going to be a €5m deal for Chelsea, and that Giroud will be given an 18 month deal.

It’s not over the line yet, however. Inter still have lots of players they need to shift, with Antonio Conte having brought in a slew of new faces to strengthen his squad.

Once they’ve found some buyers they can bring in Giroud. And once we’ve got a buyer for Giroud, we can start making our own moves.

It sounds like the dominoes are very close to falling into place.
