One of the transfer saga’s of this window so far is Chelsea’s reported interest in Lyon striker Moussa Dembele.
Many publications agree that Chelsea are at the very least interested in completing a deal for the striker during this window, as reported here by The Telegraph back in mid-December.
Since then, there have been various public words from Frank Lampard as well as Lyon club President Jean-Michel Aulas playing down any move.
Of course, this time of the year you will always get managers, players, owners, and agents being very diplomatic when asked about transfers, we have seen this many times before.
However, Aulas has reiterated once again that Dembele will ‘absolutely’ be staying at Lyon until at least the summer.
As reported by RMC, Aulas said:
“(Is he going to stay?) Yes, absolutely. We haven’t changed our minds. Moussa is an excellent player, and he needs to. We are careful not to come and compete with him on his position.
“It’s not a question of money. Moussa will be us. We will make sure to put him in the best conditions so that he scores as many goals as possible. ”
So what does this mean for Frank Lampard and Chelsea? Well, they will either have to wait until the summer to secure one of their main targets, or they will have to look for an alternative with time running out.
