Chelsea striker could end up staying despite constant links to transfer

Chelsea have already shifted quite a few players this window, and one who it seemed certain would go it Olivier Giroud.

The forward has been totally out of favour under Frank Lampard, picking up just a handful of minutes all season. It looked a sure thing he would be gone within the first week of January, especially once Inter Milan’s rumoured interest grew stronger and stronger.

But with only a few days left in the window he’s still stuck in London, and according to SportWitness today it could continue that way.

They have translated reports from Italy saying that Inter’s top priority is now Fernando Llorente, and that Giroud has dropped to second choice.

After all that, could the Frenchman be left stranded at Cobham? It would seem a cruel twist for someone who has very quietly and patiently sat out 6 months waiting to be allowed to leave.

Perhaps an emergency late buyer can be found? There was rumoured interest from Aston Villa before, could that now be his last resort?
