Chelsea player training with new club as loan deal gets closer

Chelsea are looking to shed some dead wood this January, and there’s no wood deader than Nathan.

The Brazilian has never looked like a Chelsea player since signing in 2015, and has been on a series of loans, first to Portugal and more recently back to Brazil.

His most recent loan ended at the end of the year, but he’s back training with Atletico Mineiro again ahead of what looks like another move.

SportWitness has reported that the attacking midfielder is set for another loan move to the Brazilian side, with an option to buy in the summer.

The twist is that his contract at Chelsea runs out in the summer, and if we’re going to send him out on loan we will have to get him to agree a new deal, in line with out policy of not letting players just go on loan and then leave on a free.

If he’s happy to sign on for another couple of years, then, ironically, the door will be open for him to leave in the summer, if Mineiro take up the purchase option.
