At the time of writing, we are just over 4 days away from the January transfer window slamming shut in the UK.
Late Friday evening is when the window closes and Chelsea fans will be hoping to have already welcomed a new striker to the club.
Manager Frank Lampard has been pretty vocal about his insistence that Tammy Abraham needs support up top, and he needs it this window.
Edinson Cavani has been the name being mentioned the most to come in as a short term option until the summer at least.
The experienced striker will be a perfect mentor for Abraham, and certainly wont block his progress at the club.
However, The Telegraph report that Cavani prefers a move to Atletico Madrid. But that doesn’t yet look like it is a deal that is close to being completed, so Chelsea might still be in for a chance.
And as the report states, The Blues have not given up on signing Cavani this window.
