Chelsea monitoring Milan striker as Tottenham look elsewhere

Things appear to be heating up in the striker chase as we enter the final days of the January transfer window.

It looks as if Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United are all looking to seal deals for new strikers this week, and all three are being interlinked with many of the same names.

According to The Telegraph, Chelsea are now considering making a move for Tottenham target Krzysztof Piatek as they search for alternatives to Edinson Cavani, who allegedly prefers a move to Atletico Madrid.

However, RMC Sport as cited by Get French Football News, have suggested that both Manchester United and Tottenham have turned their attentions to signing Monaco striker Islam Slimani, meaning Chelsea could now have a free run at signing Piatek should they wish.

As reported by The Independent, they also suggest that Spurs are put off by AC Milan’s £30 million asking price for Piatek.

They also believe that Chelsea would only want a loan with an option to buy deal, but Milan prefer a permanent sale.
