Chelsea left with one fit striker in the squad and Giroud update suggests new striker arrival close

Chelsea travelled north to Hull yesterday in preparation for today’s FA Cup clash against the Championship side.

Frank Lampard will be looking to advance into the next round in the search for a trophy during his first season in charge.

However, he will be without top goalscorer Tammy Abraham, who is out injured as reported by Goal, and it also looks like Olivier Giroud is out of the squad as well as he pushes for his move to Inter.

Goal report that Giroud was spotted leaving the training ground yesterday in his own vehicle, rather than get on the coach that was Hull bound with the rest of the squad.

This would suggest that Chelsea surely must have a striker close to joining them, as they look to sanction Giroud’s move away.

Transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio confirmed yesterday that Giroud is the priority of Inter once again, and all three parties are back in talks to conclude the deal.

Having just one striker available for today will be a vast reminder of the depth needed in this league.
