Chelsea face Manchester United competition in striker pursuit

Chelsea have been linked with a number of strikers this month as Frank Lampard looks to add some firepower to his front line.

One player who has had some strong links is Lyon forward Moussa Dembele, despite The Blues manager playing down the links last week.

If Chelsea are to sign the French striker formerly of Fulham and Celtic, they face stern competition from Manchester United, Manchester City, and Tottenham, according to The Daily Mirror who cite French journalist Ignazio Genuardi as the source of their information.

Genuardi claims that United had scouts watching Lyon play at Bordeaux’s Matmut Atlantique stadium on Saturday and are in regular contact with Lyon over the potential signing.

If these reports are true, it looks like Lyon may well get a bidding war, which of course would be exactly what they would want if they have to concede to selling their star player and main source of goals.
