Chelsea cool their interest in centre back after negative scouting report

There has been one player contiguously linked to making a move to Chelsea this window, but it now looks like any deal could be unlikely.

Chelsea have been linked to potentially bringing back defender Nathan Ake to the club from Bournemouth, but The Evening Standard now report that they have cooled their interest in the Dutch international.

This is as a result of a scouting report and Frank Lampard concluding that he has concerns on whether the defender can play in a defensive high line, like he uses at Chelsea.

The report says that Chelsea are now turning their attentions to other targets rather than Ake, and mention Brighton’s £50 million rated Lewis Dunk, and West Ham centre back Issa Diop as potential alternatives they have an interest in.

Ake has a £40 million buyback clause available to Chelsea in his contract, but it looks like The Blues are willing to miss out on using it.
