Chelsea can continue their good form against Newcastle with a win tomorrow – but they can’t make the same mistake

Chelsea play Newcastle tomorrow in a Premier League game rich with history.

Going away to St James’ Park is always a special occasion for away fans – not least because of that massive staircase up to where they sit in the gods.

The Chelsea official website is full of interesting stats about the history of the fixture. Newcastle have lost our last 3 games, but before that had an excellent record. After winning there last season thanks to a late DeAndre Yedlin goal, if we win tomorrow we can do the double over the Magpies for the first time in consecutive seasons since 07/08-08/09.

But we can’t get ahead of ourselves – we only won the reverse fixture of this game back in late October because Marcos Alonso cracked one in from range just as things started to get desperate.

We can’t let ourselves get into that situation again. We need goals earlier and a more concerted attacking effort from early in the game.

Alonso is great for bailing you out, but we can’t rely on him every time.
