With just a day and a half left of the January transfer window, we can already all agree it’s been a massive disappointment, not just for Chelsea but for every club in the Premier League.
There are still some deals to be done, but they look to be smaller ones. One that bubbled up out of nowhere on The Athletic is the idea that Tariq Lamptey might go to Brighton.
They say that Chelsea want £6m for the 19 year old, whose contract runs out in the summer. The Seagulls aren’t willing to pay that much.
It would be a pity to lose him. We’ve just recently seen him picking up some first team appearances, including an impressive half hour debut against Arsenal in the league in late December, and even in our FA Cup game last week.
But it sounds like his mind is made up, and a sale to Brighton – perhaps with a buy-back clause – could work for everyone.
