Why Brazilian striking sensation is tempting Chelsea for a January move

It’s always tricky to buy players in January, largely because you’re in the middle of the European season.

Big clubs across the continent are reluctant to let players go and risk upsetting their season.

That’s why players from South American, where most club seasons have finished, are tempting, and it looks like Chelsea are one of the teams sniffing around one of the stars of the continent.

The Sun report that the Blues want Gabriel Barbosa of Flamengo. His goals were vital in taking Jorge Jesus’ team to lifting the Copa Libertadores, and plenty of European teams have now been linked with the Brazilian striker.

The issue is that he’s already had one shot at Europe, with Inter Milan. Things didn’t go too well there. But after returning to his native Brazil and banging goals in for fun, it’s no surprise to see other teams ready to give him his second shot at European glory.

Whether it’s the right move for Chelsea or not… remains to be seen.
