Frank Lampard was interviewed after Chelsea’s loss to Bournemouth, and the Blues boss was clearly absolutely fuming.
He struggled to explain why his side had been so slow and poor in the first half, and later even worse as they let the Cherries take the lead. One thing he did explain was what was separating his young side from the “top teams” in the Premier League.
“Top teams show consistency, and that’s what we’re struggling for at the moment,” the manager mused after another game that saw his side beaten by less talented opposition.
It’s going to be a long season – we always knew that.
