Predicted XI: Frank Lampard forced into several changes against Villa

Chelsea play a dangerous Aston Villa team on Wednesday night, and Frank Lampard has a number of difficult selection questions on his plate.

Here’s the XI we think he will start with:

Kepa will play in goal, despite questions over his form, and it seems certain that fellow Basque Cesar Azpilicueta returns at right back after a game off.

That opens the door for Lampard to pick Marcos Alonso at left back again after almost a month out of action. His goal threat could be important in a game where we simply have to find the net.

In midfield, it’s hard to see N’Golo Kante being dropped, and if Jorginho is the man picked for a rest after a string of consecutive games, that would mean Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic alongside the Frenchman.

Up front, Christian Pulisic is probably a cert given he’s our most in form attacker, playing opposite a fresh Willian who got the weekend off.

Tammy Abraham’s fitness is up in the air, with Lampard saying in his presser today that he will have to decide tomorrow. We reckon the forward will be rushed back and play – whether that’s a good decision or not we will find out tomorrow.
