N’Golo Kante identifies the four things that mean Mason Mount could become a “very good player”

If there’s one man you can take praise from very seriously when it comes to midfield play, it’s N’Golo Kante.

Chelsea’s best player, and maybe our only world class star since the departure of Eden Hazard, is not someone who says a lot, but when he speaks you listen.

So the fact he’s identified Mason Mount as the Chelsea player with the biggest potential is very significant.

The Independent had the full quotes from the France midfielder:

“Out of all the Chelsea players, one player who has the biggest potential is, Mason Mount,” Kante said.

“His combination play, his shooting technique, passing technique. How he sees the game. He could become a very good player”, he went on, going into serious detail.

We’ve seen all those things from Mason already this season. As well as plenty of other characteristics, like his almost Kante-like ability to run all game, pressing and pushing the opposition all over the width of the pitch.

Playing in a midfield 3 with Kante and Kovacic hasn’t got the best out of Mount, but last night’s formation with him playing on the right of an attacking 3 suited him a lot better.

Perhaps that’s where he will fulfill this potential that Kante is talking aboit?
