Kepa named among world’s 10 best goalkeepers

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has been named among the world’s top goalkeepers, according to the Ballon d’Or rankings.

The Spaniard was on the 10 man shortlist for the inaugural “Yachine trophy,” which will now be awarded to the best goalkeeper in world football each year.

He did enjoy a strong debut season in London after joining from Athletic Bilbao last summer. He made some important saves, especially in the Europa League campaign which saw him make a vital penalty stop in the semi final to help Chelsea through.

This season he’s been poor however, and there’s something odd about seeing him named among the world’s best stoppers when some Chelsea fans are so furious at his form they’re demanding he’s dropped.

Perhaps this will be a nice reminder for everyone, Kepa included, that he’s a class player who just needs a bit of confidence and some solid coaching to help him back to his best level again.
