Chelsea’s transfer ban is officially over, and the Blues can sign players again – should they wish to – as soon as the window opens on January 1st.
Given how well things are going with the current group, nobody is suggesting we go mad and try and bring in a slew of new faces. But even the naturally cautious Frank Lampard has admitted that there’s room for additions in his squad, should the right options become available.
Speaking in his press conference today, the Blues boss said that his club has to “improve if [they] can” in the upcoming transfer period.
There’s no denying that there’s room for improval all through this team, although we have good options all over the pitch. What we’re really looking for is one or two absolute world class stars to take the team to the next level, not just random bodies to come in the door in January.
Liam Twomey of the Athletic had the manager’s exact words on the subject:
Lampard reiterates that Chelsea “have to improve if we can” in January and adds that he’ll be recommending names, though recruitment is a collective effort #cfc
