Christian Pulisic tries to explain why Chelsea have struggled at home

Chelsea disappointed everyone with a home loss to West Ham at the weekend, adding another rather poor result to a home run that hasn’t carried on the incredible “Fortress Stamford Bridge” run we were hoping would carry us to the Champions League this season.

Nobody could blame Christian Pulisic for the loss, given he was our most dangerous player in this game, as he has been for a few weeks now.

He spoke to the media to try and explain what went wrong against the Hammers, and why his team have struggled a little at the Bridge. Goal.com had all the quotes from the American after the game:

“We’ve wanted to do much better at home this season,” Pulisic said.

“Our away form has been great but at times at home it has been tougher, we’ve had some good games but it is just about the fact that we want to do it in front of our fans as well,” the US superstar went on.

“That is the thing you can’t [explain it] really. You’d think it would be the other way around. It is a bit strange. I guess I don’t know. Maybe it is just putting ourselves under a bit more pressure than we need to at home, who knows?”

We hope the players don’t feel too under pressure at home, and they shouldn’t. The atmosphere at our stadium right now is about as forgiving and positive as it could be, and the team have been applauded after losses at times this season.

The young players in the team and the fact that Frank Lampard is in charge gives everyone a lot of leeway. Pressure will be in those final weeks when the Champions League places are coming down to the wire. Let’s try and make sure it doesn’t come down to that.
