Chelsea’s possible last 16 opponents includes potential return for Maurizio Sarri

Chelsea qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League last night after finishing second in their group.

Valencia top the group, and both Ajax and Lille failed to get through to the knockout stages.

The Blues having finished second, will go into a slightly more difficult pot of teams who they can face in the next round.

But let’s be honest, at this stage of Europe’s most prestigious club competition, you are never going to face an easy team.

If Chelsea want to challenge themselves and see how much further they can get, they will have to face and beat the best.

They will certainly have an opportunity to do that, and Stamford Bridge could end up seeing the return of Maurizio Sarri already, who’s Juventus side are one of the teams they could end up being drawn against.

The other teams they could face are PSG, Bayern, Barcelona, or RB Leipzig.

The draw for the Round of 16 will be held next Monday, December 16, with the games themselves set to played in February.
