Chelsea ‘turn up the heat’ to bring back former player

The arms are starting to turn faster on the rumour mill as Chelsea are well and truly involved in the madness of the winter transfer window.

Whilst most normal people are shopping for Christmas presents, Chelsea are out shopping for a number of players to bring in and strengthen for the rest of the season.

One of those players is former defender Nathan Ake, with Chelsea ‘expected to make a move’ for the Dutch international next month when the transfer window opens, according to The Guardian.

The 24-year old could well be faced with a decision to make at the turn of the year, with Chelsea weighing up whether they will look at using their £40 million buyback option on the defender.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has admitted that he is pretty powerless to stop any potential departure for one of his star players.

As reported by The Mirror, Howe spoke about the Ake speculation:

“It would be obviously my wish to hold on to everybody. Some of these things are out of our control.

“We will wait and see. I don’t want to give you evasive answers but I am in no control of that at the moment.

“A lot of things with transfers [from] trying to bring players in, trying to keep the squad we have, is out of my hands.”
