Chelsea Transfer Targets’ Season So Far: Timo Werner

January is getting closer, and Chelsea are hoping to have their transfer ban lifted in time to secure some players to strengthen Frank Lampard’s squad. In this series we look at some of our reported targets and how their season so far is going.

Timo Werner is one of the hottest properties in Europe right now, a goalscoring machine ready to move to a top side from RB Leipzig, where he’s been developing superbly.

An impressive 17 goals and 9 assists already this season show he’s matured into a top starter already, and could slot into almost any Champions League contender’s squad by the look of things.

In fact, after a relatively slow first few months, the Stuttgart youth product has scored 7 and notched 5 assists in his last four games, a quite astonishing spurt that has fired the Saxon side into contention at the top of the Bundesliga.

The price will certainly put a few people off, as Red Bull don’t need the money from anyone, and will happily just watch the price tag of their prospect grow through the rest of the season.

We will clearly need a few striker soon, with Tammy’s injury this week highlighting the lack of talent we have behind him in the squad. But this deal is probably too big to be wrapped up in time, and if you’re hoping to see Werner at Chelsea, you may have to wait until the summer, at the very least.
