Chelsea send scouts to Portugal potentially looking at left backs

Chelsea reportedly had scouts watching the Boavista vs Benfica match in Portugal this week, according to A Bola.

They claim that it is nothing new to have Premier League scouts watching these teams, but for Chelsea to be there is quite rare.

Benfica are currently top of the Portuguese league and won the match 4-1.

The report isn’t clear as to who Chelsea were scouting exactly but the likelihood is it could be a handful of Benfica players they are taking note of.

But of course one area they are looking to sign players is left back. There have been a number of names mentioned as potential options for that pursuit, but Benfica’s Alex Grimaldo could be one option, as picked up on by Sport Witness.

They also cite Benfica’s other young talent, such as Tomás Tavares, Nuno Tavares, and striker Carlos Vinícius, who scored two on the day, as being other potential players they were looking at.
