One of Chelsea’s potential top transfer targets for this January or beyond has just become a lot harder to sign.
Spanish radio Journalist Antonio Ruiz last night reported on “Tiempo de Juego” that Red Bull Leipzig striker Timo Werner is now Atletico Madrid’s top priority, with the Spanish club looking to bring him in in the summer, or even before, depending on Diego Costa’s ongoing injury problems.
Atleti have shown a willingness to spend big in recent windows, and after selling Rodri and Antoine Griezmann in the summer, they still have money to burn.

Diego Simeone has constructed a really talented squad, he just needs the number 9 to complete it. It’s no surprise he sees Leipzig striker Werner as potentially that player, after several outstanding seasons in the Bundesliga.
Chelsea, who are hoping to see their transfer ban lifted as soon as next month, have been linked with Werner before, but never too strongly. They now seem as far away from signing him as ever.
