Chelsea loanee returns to the club after being released

Some of Chelsea’s loan army have not endured the most successful first halves of the season so far, and many face uncertain futures.

The likes of Ethan Ampadu has had a nightmare loan move so far in Germany, whilst others such as Jake Clarke-Salter have also lacked serious minutes and development in their moves this season.

One player has also had an absolute nightmare and has now been sent back to Chelsea is 21-year old midfielder Jacob Maddox.

The former Bristol City youth player was bought in to the Chelsea youth setup in 2013 and after a successful loan spell with Cheltenham Town, he made the step up to League One side Tranmere Rovers this season.

However, he suffered with injuries initially but has yet to play a league match since his return to fitness, and only played twice in the cup.

As reported on the Tranmere Rovers FC website, Maddox has now been released back to Chelsea and will join their development squad for the time being.
