After Chelsea’s extremely upsetting defeat to Bournemouth yesterday, we’re all looking for a nice distraction, and what could be better to take our minds off the loss than a nice new transfer rumour.
Rather than recycle the same Nathan Ake or Wilf Zaha rumours again, this time the Daily Mail have given us something fresh – a link to young Brighton defender Ben White.
The 22 year old is on loan at Leeds this season from the Seagulls, and has really impressed for the Whites as they’ve stormed up the Championship table. His parent club, despite developing the England youth international, have barely had a chance to see him play for the club, but will apparently accept a £25m bid for his services.
He’s a classy ball playing centre back, and while he’s unquestionably a great talent, one has to wonder how much better he is than Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma.
As much as anything, we need immediate Champions League level quality to add to the first team. Does this Championship player really offer that straight off the bat?
