Chelsea have a limited time to cash in buy-back on talented defender

Chelsea have been linked with a number of targets in the last few weeks ahead of the January transfer window, but few as consistently and clearly as Nathan Ake.

The former Chelsea youth academy defender has shone at Bournemouth in the last couple of seasons, and is now looking ready to step up to the next level. We, along with Man City, have been linked as a potential next destination.

We have an advantage over the Citizens in that we have a buy-back clause with the Cherries, having sold the Dutchman to them in 2017.

But according to the Athletic, that clause expires this summer, meaning January is our last chance to exploit it.

That certainly increases the pressure on us to get a deal done, and it will be interesting to see what happens in two weeks when the window opens.

Is this opportunity to snap up a prospect for a fixed fee going to be too good to turn down? It sounds like we’ll know very soon.
