Chelsea defender admits to lack of communication at the back

Chelsea are getting ready for probably the biggest game of their season so far tomorrow evening as they face Lille in the final group game of the Champions League.

In order for The Blues to advance to the knockout stages they must beat the French side at home, otherwise they could face dropping down in to the Europa League.

The group was never going to be easy for Chelsea to get out of, but they have been their own worst enemy in making it a real struggle.

Frank Lampard will be hoping for big improvements from the last handful of matches where his team have looked lacklustre, especially at the back.

One of the main issues at the back is there hasn’t seemed to be any one player taking control and organising the back line. There has been a real lack of leadership and defender Kurt Zouma has admitted that fact.

Speaking to the press today ahead of the game tomorrow, as reported by Football London, Zouma said:

“We work together, we just have to keep together.

“Maybe it has been a bit quiet, we have to be better.

“We have to show character and we need to be motivated. The pressure is always there. Tomorrow is another game.”

On Antonio Rudiger being back fit again and in the squad, Zouma said:

“He is an important player for us. He has no pain, feeling good.

“Everyone is important and we want to move forward.”
