Atalanta ready to stump up €15m for Pasalic at last

Atalanta are ready to pay up for Mario Pasalic at last, it seems.

The midfielder has been on loan at the Bergamo based club for two years now, and many were expecting that move to be made permanent this summer. However, surprisingly the Serie A side extended the loan for another year, presumably as part of some accounting trick.

They know they will have to pay up eventually though, and the Croatian’s success this season is only raising his price. Reports in Italy, for example this one from Football Italia, say that he will cost them €15m to buy this summer.

That hardly seems a lot – in fact that’s about how much a Championship full back costs these days. Mario is a really talented player who has put some of the best years of his career into the loan army. Now we hope he can spread his wings and be free, on his own terms.
