Frank Lampard has been having his prematch press conference ahead of the game with Manchester City this weekend, and one item was top of the agenda.
Jose Mourinho’s stunning move to Tottenham this week has dragged Chelsea into the headlines after our former boss took over at our deadly rivals. Way back in 2015 Mourinho was quoted saying that he wouldn’t be able to do such a thing – but clearly his thoughts have changed.
The fact that his old mentor had gone back on his word didn’t stop Frank Lampard being very certain about his own position, and the Daily Mail had quotes from his making very clear that it’s not even an option.
“I can firmly say no, and you can replay that in 10 years. It wouldn’t happen,” the rookie coach said.
You can’t ask for much more certainty or firmness than that. On the other hand, things change very quickly in football – we’re all being reminded of that this week.
