Why it would be wise to try a Reece James and Giroud combo if Abraham is injured

We are expected to hear an update of the injury that Tammy Abraham sustained against Valencia in the pre-match press conference from Frank Lampard today.

Although it has been deemed as not serious, it is looking quite unlikely that he will start the match against West Ham this Saturday.

So Chelsea will be looking at starting either Olivier Giroud or Michy Batshuayi.

Of course, the latter has the better legs for the press and can hassle the back line. But he hasn’t been performing well in his cameos of late and never brings enough to the general play.

Giroud is third choice, and whilst neither of them are a great solution, as a temporary fix, it must be the France World Cup winner that starts.

Chelsea’s best deliverer of a ball is Reece James. Chelsea’s best header of a ball is Olivier Giroud. Starting James on Saturday delivering crosses into the box, I guarantee we won’t see them wasted like we did against Valencia.

Giroud will eat them up like he is being spoon fed by his Mother!

As I say, not a long term fix, and doesn’t overly suit how we play, but unless Abraham is fit, give me a James/Giroud combo please!
