Willian says he’s waiting on Chelsea’s response to contract demands

Willian has said that his future is “in Chelsea’s hands”, in interesting quotes released on Sky Sports tonight.

The Brazil midfielder is coming to the end of his current deal in the summer, and looks favourite to win a new one given how important he’s been to Frank Lampard’s team.

However his quotes reveal that the club haven’t made any gestures in that direction. Perhaps they are interesting in seeing him leave, or just testing the water to see what demand there may be for him out there.

He says the club “know what [he] wants”, and he is happy just waiting for a reply to his offer. The 31 year old may be holding out for a two year contract, while Chelsea are insisting on one.

It will all of course be changed should the transfer ban come in. That will mean the club can buy, and are less held to the former Anzhi man’s demands.

The dance continues.
