Tottenham set to rival Chelsea for former academy star

Jose Mourinho has barely got his feet under the table at Tottenham, and everyone is already talking about his transfer targets.

If they want to see any results from the new boss this season they will have to back him in the winter window, and we would imagine he would only have taken the job based on that principle.

The Daily Telegraph have a really interesting insight into what his plans will be in the coming weeks, and a major priority will apparently be securing a new centre back.

How does this affect us? Well the same piece says that one of their top targets is Nathan Ake, the former Chelsea youth player who they say is a “target” of ours too.

That could be a nasty clash for his signing, and while there have been rumours before that we have a buyback clause in the Dutchman’s deal, if our transfer ban is still in play, it won’t be much use.

Your move, Spurs.
