N’Golo Kante explains why he turned down PSG to stay at Chelsea

N’Golo Kante has had an interesting interview with Canal+, with the midfielder discussing his potential move to PSG in a discussion translated by Get French Football News here.

After years excelling, first for Leicester and then for Chelsea in the English top division, the bids for Kante were always coming, and after a couple of dodgy seasons, it felt we were a little vulnerable to losing him in the summer.

PSG tried, but they failed because Kante wanted to stay, as he explains here:

“Sometimes you don’t really know where you are going to go, but you know what you already have. I knew I was at Chelsea, I felt good at Chelsea. On top of that, it was a footballing decision. I felt good in London and I felt happy in this project and therefore I am happy to stay here.”

It’s great to hear that he’s still committed to the project here, and hopefully he will be for years to come. After losing Eden Hazard it was vital we keep the rest of our stars together, and after what should be a really fun season this time around, it should be easier to persuade him to stay from now on – especially if we go out and strengthen the team in the summer.
