Kante set for full power return against Man City

N’Golo Kante returned for Chelsea just before this international break, giving Didier Deschamps the perfect excuse to pick him in France’s two qualifiers.

The fact that Kante got a setback rushing back from his injury last time, and that he didn’t look fully fit in Chelsea’s last game, don’t seem to bother Les Blues manager Deschamps.

In the end he did pick the midfielder, but just for the first of two games. He’s on the bench tonight as the French play Albania. He played the full game earlier this week, which gives him a bit more fitness in his legs, but also a week and a big to recover before out next game against Man City.

That means we should see him at 100%, which is good to hear, because we’ll need it. Pep Guardiola’s team will be looking to bounce back from last week’s defeat, and knowing that any more dropped points could spell the end of their title charge.

Frank Lampard has some big decisions to make about who to include in the team, and Kante’s fitness means major changes.
